Weather Song Tournament, Second Round: Sun & Elements!

The Weather Channel's Weather Song Tournament Music Nerd March Madness continues with the second round of the Weather Channel’s Weather Song Tournament! We’re down to four matchups in each of four regions — let’s see how it looks!

Second Round: Sun Region

On Tuesday, I gave Sheryl Crow the Diddly-Squat Award for inane lyrics, so my pick here should come as no surprise!

MMN’s pick: The Beatles: “Here Comes The Sun”

I made the painful choice of Louis over Stevie in the first round, so it’s a big relief to get to vote for Stevie here.

MMN’s pick: Stevie Wonder: “You Are the Sunshine of My Life”

This is kind of a tough choice, but I’m going with Bill Withers, for the cool factor. Besides, the Beatles can’t win ’em all!

MMN’s pick: Bill Withers: “Ain’t No Sunshine”

I’m still diggin’ Cream’s vocal harmonies and syncopated rhythm!

MMN’s pick: Cream “Sunshine of Your Love”

Second Round: Elements Region

Again — Nerd, please.

MMN’s pick: Dean Martin: “Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow”

Hmm, this is a tough pick; both songs are iconic. It may be the contrarian choice, but the Springsteen tugs at my heartstrings more.

MMN’s pick: Bruce Springsteen: “Thunder Road”

Another Bambi meets Godzilla matchup, seems to me!

MMN’s pick: Judy Garland: “Over the Rainbow”

The Doors take themselves a bit too seriously, don’t you think? I’m going with the fun one here.

MMN’s pick: The Rolling Stones: “Get Off Of My Cloud”

Tune in tomorrow for the second round in the Rain and Seasons regions!

What are your picks, music nerds?
