Second Round: Sun Region

On Tuesday, I gave Sheryl Crow the Diddly-Squat Award for inane lyrics, so my pick here should come as no surprise!

I made the painful choice of Louis over Stevie in the first round, so it’s a big relief to get to vote for Stevie here.

- The Beatles: “Good Day Sunshine” vs. Bill Withers: “Ain’t No Sunshine“
This is kind of a tough choice, but I’m going with Bill Withers, for the cool factor. Besides, the Beatles can’t win ’em all!

- Cream “Sunshine of Your Love” vs. Elton John: “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me“
I’m still diggin’ Cream’s vocal harmonies and syncopated rhythm!

- Dean Martin: “Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow” vs. Elton John: “Candle In The Wind“
Again — Nerd, please.

- Bob Dylan: “Blowin’ In The Wind” vs. Bruce Springsteen: “Thunder Road“
Hmm, this is a tough pick; both songs are iconic. It may be the contrarian choice, but the Springsteen tugs at my heartstrings more.

Another Bambi meets Godzilla matchup, seems to me!

The Doors take themselves a bit too seriously, don’t you think? I’m going with the fun one here.
