Miss Music Nerd Live! In a Benefit for Japan

Breaking news, music nerds!

I’m performing this week on two concerts to benefit the American Red Cross Japanese disaster relief fund. I will play an organ postlude on the traditional spiritual, “We Shall Overcome.” The concert also features some great local musicians who have performed on JP Concerts, the series I help organize in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston.

Details are below. Check it out if you’re in the area!

GANBARE JAPAN!
A Benefit for Japanese Disaster Relief

Two performances:
Wednesday, March 30, 5:30 pm
Church of St. John the Evangelist
35 Bowdoin Street, Boston

Thursday, March 31, 7:00 pm
JP Concerts
St. John’s Episcopal Church
1 Roanoke Avenue, Jamaica Plain

Donations welcomed. We appreciate your generosity!

As the Japanese people continue to face the effects of the recent earthquake and tsunami, our hearts are touched and we want to contribute something. To paraphrase Leorard Bernstein: “This will be our reply to [tragedy]: to make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before.” Join us for this worthy cause, great music, and a lovely evening (or two!). Proceeds will go to the American Red Cross Japanese disaster relief fund.

Featured Performers:

  • Takao Shinzawa, flute
  • Meena Malik, soprano
  • Yakov Zamir, countertenor
  • Juliet Cunningham, piano
  • Linda Kernohan, organ <-- that’s me!
