I like the contrast between what the title is and what the lyrics say, (“Its a beautiful day” but the message is about coping with a bad day). Also one of my favorite examples of I suppose, subconscious musical thievery. Compare the bridge of “Beautiful Day” with the one in this 1985 song by Norways, A-Ha
I share your sentiments about the ban on gay marriage. Florida resoundingly voted to define marriage as solely heterosexual. I was disgusted. At least we and the nation got it right in electing Obama as the next president.
My emotions went so up and down within those hours… I was thrilled to come home from work and watch the returns Tuesday night… my sister called crying after going to a funeral… we both picked up a bit after talking about that, the election, my nephew… Obama won… Prop 8 lost… I feel very hopeful overall, but it’s tinged with that failure… Bittersweet, indeed…
